Democrats, You're No JFKs

December 2, 2003

The Democrat Party has a bunch of guys running for the presidency disagreeing with George Bush just for the sake of disagreeing with him. They're total reactionaries. No matter what he does, they scream, "NO!" before bothering to think. There's not a one of them that can tell us what they're going to do for the country. There's not one candidate running an affirmative campaign as John F. Kennedy did when the GOP held the White House in 1960 on the theme:

Things are pretty good, but I can do even better.

Today's Democrats are too obsessed with Bush to do anything but scream about him. They sense that the vast majority of their base is similarly blinded by hatred for this president and they want to tap into it. They may be right when it comes to primary voters, particularly in early states like Iowa, but beyond that, the American people don't want to hear venom, anger and hatred. If you look at the polling numbers, the nation is very favorably disposed to what we're doing in Iraq and why we're there. They understand that it's a key front in the war on terrorism.

Listeners to my program can nuke Howard Dean or any of these other Democratic candidates with facts, not opinions or name calling. You can hear them say, "You think we can get France to help us in Iraq, when they were supplying Saddam Hussein with embargoed weapons systems?" Democrats care not for such factual discussions. That's why I assign members of my staff to watch these Democrat debates and other appearances. It's just a waste of my time. Unless you can laugh at them, I suggest you just avoid watching them entirely. It's enough to know that they're the authors of their own destruction; you don't have to hang on every word they write in the story of their failure.

Dean is still in the mid-high teens nationally.
Don't get too excited. He definitely has the anti-war liberals excited, but that's about it.

On Hardball when asked whether he'd be unstoppable if he wins Iowa and NH, Dean's expression when he said "I don't know" told it all. He knows that he needs over 40% of the vote to have a chance at the nomination. That is because he knows the centrists in the party still won't support him, though they DO want his organization. The LA Times may be right, that we are headed for a Gore-Dean ticket. That is unless Clark catches fire. Kerry I now consider a dark horse in this race. He still has a chance but polls are not showing it yet. Clark remains tied with Dean nationally, more or less. He seems to have the better chance. I do like Wesley Clark.
