Dean and Clark are both in favor of "equal rights". So is Kerry. It is Bush who is opposed to equal rights.

What a cop-out! Dean claims each state should be able to do what it wants on gay marriage, but neatly ignores the next court challenge to follow, which will be to force states to recognize marriages sanctioned by other states as is required by the constitution. Surely he knows this, but ignores it so he can pander for a few homophobe votes.

He's "for" civil unions, but "against" gay marriage, but "for" leaving it up to each state, but knows it's not up to each state - it'll be up to the courts, which is the last place it should be decided.

In other words, as usual, he's for having his cake and eating it too, all while telling everyone Bush wants to take their cake away.
