I am sure anyone who reads your message, and who has been through something similar, remembers how hard these times are. I am glad you got to see him after the surgery.

My condolences, Mish....our families are the most precious thing we have. Your post reminded me of that, and how we should treasure all the time we get to spend with loved ones.

Hi Mish,

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I know that was a difficult experience for the two of you. It's a hard thing in a mans life when he loses his father. It's good you got to speak, and the both of you will be alright in time.

.....it's good to have friends and family.

My condolences,

Jeff

Mish,
Sorry for your loss.
Lost my Dad 2 yrs ago.
Step-Mother called, said he had another stroke (3rd over time) & maybe I should come home. Flew from Seattle to FL the next day, got to spend 2 weeks with him before he passed.

I wrote and spoke the eulogy and at the end I quoted a line from Buffett's "Captain and the Kid"...
"He's somewhere on the ocean now, a place he outa be. One hand on starboard rail, he's waving back at me."
Now when I think about my Dad, this quote always brings a little smile rather than a tear and I can't help but believe that his soul knows much more than my mortal self how I feel about him.

Hope this helps, peace be with you,
Bill/WA

My condolences, Mish... Sorry for your loss and may you find the strength you need in this difficult period.

Try not to blame yourself for not being there when it happened. People grow old and fragile, and when their time comes, they pass away, leaving behind their children & memories of their good deeds to the world. It was a gift from heavens that you could see him before he passed away, to tell him you love him.

The pain, that unbearable feeling of irreversible loss fades in time, and only happy memories remain. I wish you strength and patience to bear these difficult times until then.

Sorry to hear that, mish. We've had a series of tough news here as well, though thankfully none quite so serious. Family in the hospital with hip replacement complications, another with heart bypass surgery, and a friend with a favorite (feline) daughter with blood problems.

I'm glad to hear you were able to be there when you were. Our thoughts are with you.

Kind of puts all this money stuff in its proper perspective. I'm telling you, I think the world would be a better place if we were are required to serve at least one funeral per year. Too much of our society tries to avoid, cheat, and ignore our mortality, but it is very real.
