I sure do not claim to know all there is to know about Afghanistan, but just from what little I have read, it is clear that there has been an opium problem for many many years, it is clear the weapons have always been and probably always will be readily available. Yes the taliban and alqaida will make attempts at regaining their standing with assorted attacks. No one ever thought that they would not. That in no way means they are taking over everything again, and the naysayers that keep harping about it should go find out for themselves.
