Without a speech, Bush wouldn't have any idea what to say to the public other than wisecracks and simple-minded slogans. John Kerry and others with more command of issues can get up at any time and discuss issues for hours without notes or handlers. Kerry has always been warm, friendly and comfortable the ten or so times I've seen him. He was very relaxed on his Hardball one hour shows. In other words, you're full of it.
