I utterly agree - to say that we will know what we will be
like in heaven is simply a lack of humility - when I look
at a verse such as this one:

1 John 3:2 Beloved, now we are children of God;
and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be,
but we know that when He is revealed,
we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

That verse was written by John -
John saw Christ ascend up into heaven and
saw Him often after He was resurrected from the tomb.

John knew what the resurrected Christ looked like on
earth after being resurrected - or at least that He had a
physical body.

If is is easily understood by most people that Christ was
supposed to return a "second time" from heaven to rapture
them up to be with Him - and if it is plain from the verse that
they would then be "changed in a twinkle" into that self same
state that Christ would return in - and if that state was to be
the exact state that He had when he appeared after the resurrection
then what on earth does John mean by saying

it has not yet been revealed what we shall be,

Alan - when I say we will have bodies - I am not saying physical.

I believe that the scriptures spoke of a 'body' that is not physical:

Luke 3:22 And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form
like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said,
"You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased."

I do not believe the Holy Ghost had feathers :-)

Your question - why would we need bodies - I see no need.

However that is just our human reasoning and not a discerning of scripture.

That is what we fight against:

2 Corinthians 10:5 casting down arguments and every high thing
(Creeds and Churches included - BV)
that exalts itself against the knowledge of God,
bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

Obedience of Christ = submission to His revealed Word.

What do you do with Acts 1:9-11

Explain to me what you think it says happened and would happen.
