In the BEIJING story, "UPDATE 1-China sees 2003 trade surplus halved at near $15 bln", please read in second paragraph ...foreign trade to rise in volume by eight percent in 2004, with total trade reaching $840 billion to $850 billion this year... instead of ...foreign trade to rise in volume by eight percent in 2003, with total trade reaching $840 billion to $850 billion... (correcting timeframe)

(A corrected repeat follows)

BEIJING, Dec 3 (Reuter) - China has forecast its trade surplus for 2003 at around $15 billion, sharply down from last year's $30.35 billion, but it expected overall trade volume to boost its ranking to fourth biggest global trading nation.

Fu Ziying, assistant minister of commerce, said he expected foreign trade to rise in volume by eight percent in 2004, with total trade reaching $840 billion to $850 billion this year. "China's ranking in world trade could move to fourth place," Fu told a forum. China currently ranks fifth.

He said China expected actual foreign direct investment to reach $50 billion this year. In 2002, actual FDI was $52.74 billion.
