A number of years ago when when this thread was is the three digits Intel and SanDisk got into some kind of dispute. I can't recall if it went to litigation but I recall it being ended by swapping out some mutual access to IP. How this impacts SNDK is hard to tell as they have never let on as to the basis of of royalties.

Intel makes NOR flash, which is used primarily to store code. SanDisk makes NAND, which is used primarily to store data. So the two don't directly compete.

But the manufacturers of NOR are saying that they are developing products that can be used for storage, and the NAND manufacturers are saying that NAND can now be used for code. So you have the two technologies trying to compete in each others playground.
