We have not abandoned Afghanistan. The main difficulty is on the border with Pakistan, which permits anti- US forces to find sanctuary after attacks. For that reason, we are primarily concentrating on the use of special forces, rather than large scale military operations. As far as the rest goes, we are trying to move the various factions forward in establishing their own regime, and learning to work together, but we are uninterested in imposing unity at the expense of another major campaign against erstwhile allies. We will have to see how things down the road.......
