Thus I presume you are buying US dollars. Frankly, I don't know what to make of Faber's article, it seems a bit of everything, take your pick, a little of this and a little of that --- and, of course, buy gold. Always buy gold. Frankly, I don't believe anyone has a clue about what is going to happen. That is why the sage advice of "go with the flow" or "the trend is your friend" is probably as good as any and better than most. And right now, gold, in USD, does look good and the USD looks awful. But, of course, to those who observe such things, there is now a strong acceleration of the gold price and, particularly, gold share prices (HUI and XAU)stockcharts.com [l,a]dalaynay[de][pd50,2][ilb14!la12,26,9]stockcharts.com [l,a]dalaynay[de][pd50,2][ilb14!la12,26,9] Price accelerations like these, which represent "growth" of at least 100% pa, are clearly unsustainable but, for them to end, they have to get even faster --- and faster --- until the graphs are virtually parallel to their y-axes. And then --- pop! And all fall down. It hasn't happened yet but it surely will. So hold on for the ride. Another bit of sage advice, "What goes up like a rocket comes down like the stick." And frankly, I don't know what to make of the US economy. In one article one reads how the US is involved in taking over the world, at least a large piece of it and, in another, how the US economy is in a parlous state and getting worse. This must surely be the heyday of "apocalypse" journalism. The more dramatically a journalist can predict the end of the world as we know it, the more popular that journalist becomes. Soon they will be saying, "Read this and get an adrenalin rush" or "Forget about bungee jumping, try reading Dr X" Maybe they are conditioning the US to another terrorist attack which, I admit, is very much on the cards especially if Howard Dean looks like he could be The Man. I mean, to compare the the US to Germany in 1922 is unbelievable. The US is the world's only superpower with a consumer purchasing-power second to none, Germany was on its knees after WWI and having to pay massive reparations to England and France and with a piss-poor economy. The only comparison anyone could make between the two is the money-printing but the reasons for it are completely different. Strikes me some of these Gurus have taken leave of their senses. Now bite your tongue.
