Dear Ken: Great story, you sound a lot like my brothers, all 3 dropped out of high school to enlist in WWII. Ages were 14, 16 & 18. 14 lied about his age, faked my parents signature and got in the Navy. They caught up with him eventually and discharged him. 16 got my parents OK and joined the navy, he served his enlistment on the Roosevelt got out early as war ended suddenly with the A bomb and joined the Army reserves, ended up in KOREA for the entire term. 18 year old joined the USMC, fought in tinian, Saipan, and Okinawa, wounded twice YET sent to CHINA after the war and didnt come home till a year after it was over. Contrast you and my brothers to what goes on today and one HAS TO WONDER what is happening to PATRIOTISM in the USA. jdn
