A few years back, my son started insisting that we always swing by Chinatown when in New York, so that he could get some animes that had subtitles rather than dubbing. We went to the same place each time, and went to the same restaurant for lunch. We always had dim sum. I had had it before, but this periodic immmersion, once or twice a year, in a place loaded with Chinese families, and where the proprietor barely spoke any English, really turned me on to the joys of stuffed dumplings. Unfortunately, I am blanking on the name of the place.....The Lebanese Taverna is very good. I am also enjoying its branching out into smaller places in the suburbs. Although I live closer to the original now, it is sometimes more convenient to go to Rockville to pick up some hummus, baba ganush, and couscous. I also like Mama Ayesha's, formerly the Calvert Cafe, a few blocks from the Taverna, down Calvert Street. The biggest problem with both is parking, although the Taverna has a small garage...........
