I would question whether that is consistent with the definition of a religious war, since one of the parties is not a religion. I would accept the proposition, as long as it is clearly agreed that this is not a war between Christianity and fundamentalist Islam, and it is most certainly not a contest to see whose God is bigger.

From a purely pragmatic view, we would want to avoid the "religious war" notion. It's never a good idea to allow your antagonist to dictate the terms of conflict.
