Polls of any kind are relatively uncommon in China. I would put it to you that anybody who believes that China is not deadly serious about Taiwan being part of China is either pretty much ignorant of the Chinese people or pursuing a self-serving ideological fantasy. I have asked people about this from one end of the country to another, and the reaction is always pretty much the same -- Taiwan is part of China just as much as any state in the US is part of the United States. No sane person wants war. But people will go to war to defend their country -- and Taiwan is part of their country.
