The article sounds like a U.S.-inspired propaganda piece laying the PR groundwork for a Syrian invasion. With the U.S. on its doorstep, why would the Syrian government play a political game that puts its very existence into jeopardy? I'm highly dubious. Can we expect the President next to be presenting to the public intelligence reports that justify going to war with that country? Might be just the trick to get re-elected. Oh no, I forgot, a moon mission is the ticket to re-election.
