******** FWIW ************ My windows 98SE PC used to hang in the middle of a program once in 2/3 days.It used to hang once in 2/3 attempts when I am shutting down the PC. It will go thru the motions and then nothing, frozen. The only way out was to turn-off the power switch. Now, for one week, I am using NSW 2003 to run scandisk (only file check, no surface scan) automatically, at the start of windows. It has not done any of the above since I started NSW 2003 scandisk. - Satish
