Did the "defense" budget increased after the 2.800 or so people get killed or were they spending that amount before that?

It is the threat caused by those huge killing power enabled by those USD400 billion that causes people to do harm.

Let me explain you: It is impossible to win a conventional war against a USD400billion might. Hence the only way at hand is to fight unconventionaly.

The more you 'defend' by increasing the deadly power, at the cost of USD400 billion, the more people try to inflict casualties by going even more unconventional.

There is more death coming towards you, not because I advocate killing -I think people should trade since traders are the less warlike people on earth- but because: Violence breeds violence.

Ann,
I don't know much about China and Mexico slave labors. But I would like to know how many factories did you visit in India to brand them as slave labors. How many slave labors are roaming around in USA? Have you visited those farms in South and West or inner cities? What about their standard of living? Are you going to boygott US farm products?
You cannot dream of having artificially high wages for workers here and expect everybody in the world to do the same. In most countries, you don't have to raise to US level salary to have US level standard of living because of availability abundant labors and different expectations of standard of living due to culture and other factors.
As long as you elect politicians who are willing to spend $400 billion in defence and another $400+ billion for interests payment (to pay for the all the borrowing binge) you cannot keep complaining about other countries. Nothing will change.

The reason China, India, Mexico have slave labor is because they do not provide their workers with a fair wage, safe working conditions or any other benefits. Those 3rd world workers condtions should be upgraded rather than Americans quality of life being downgraded. The average inhabitants own this world--not greedy corporations. Those average people will set the rules--NOT multi-national monopolies. This is not the 19th Century & WE will not be trampled in the dust in order to make the wealthy EVEN wealthier. If necessary, this world trade fiasco could lead to an Off with their Heads! scenario. Company execs better take heed, or they won't be safe ANYWHERE.

Do you mind talking about investment instead of spamming threads like this or Julius Wong's with your sociopolitical indignation?

Profit is the bottom line. This is not a socialist country, it is a capitalist country. Maybe eventually outscouring, in 20-30 years, will level the playing field between us and China, and maybe someday we won't be a superpower. What is wrong with that? Humans are humans.

This is an investment site and these are boards where people are considering investments. I like to read this particular thread for that purpose. I guess I will just put you on ignore.

THe only other thing I wish is that Jay, whose posts are valuable, would not sign them CHUGS. It just BUGS me. CHUGS BUGS ME. :-) (It's true though)
