After I read the above article from Barrons' I have to write my opinion. I found that Barron's used the trailing 12 month earning, which included a big write off of (hedging ?) position in Q4 of 2002. I used last 9-month earning, 0.78 share, to calculate the annual earning which is 1.04 at $357 POG. If the cost remain constant, the forward 12-month earning would be $1.83 at $400 POG. Therefore, the current $50/share for NEM is based on P/E of 27.3, which is in-line with SP-500. I have no problem with the current stock price at this early bull run.

If most analysts think POG will be sub-400 next year, we can all wrap up and forget about gold stocks from this point. But, I think they are out of their minds.
