It's breathtaking. From a $237 Billion surplus in 2000 to a $374 Billion deficit in 2003 and a $500 plus Billion deficit in 2004.

Course, you will admit Bush is damned if he does and damned if he doesnt by your ilk. Had he shored up Medicare through say means testing you would have attacked him, had he said we cant afford prescription drug coverage you would have attacked him. The fact he did the opposite now also leads you to attack him. Do you not see how preportorous those attacks are to the rest of us? If you take one position and stick to it, we may not agree but at least we understand you. (I think thats why Dean is doing so well, at least he doesnt waver in his message).
These budget deficits dont bother me that much, once the economy is in good shape then will be the time to take action to bring them under stricter control. In the meantime my only BITCH is PORK BARREL SPENDING. Sadly, we have had that my entire life and I see little happening to change it. The old "you vote for my special project and I'll vote for yours" adds incredible waste and inefficiency to our budget. jdn
