Perhaps you're right, Clapston. I hope you are. I think though that people will do just about anything to make a living. Have they/we any choice? Kindness and the "good parts of human nature" aside, when political and religious affiliation become legal aspects of the job application screening process, as I'm certain exists now in one of those unspoken corporate culture nuances, people will quickly adopt the "desirable" characteristics in order to eat. And, yes, you too are permitted to be a "progressive." <gg> PS: I know a guy who is a chemist type working for the state government. He was asked to work on some sort of bioterror project. He refused. If the subject comes up again, however, his job could be on the line. Like, do it or else.
