He may call me what he wishes. "Sticks and stones .....". The strongest impression he makes on me is that he is a propagandist- -quite possibly paid- -for the Chinese Government. And does an excellent job of sticking to the Party line. If the Party decided tomorrow that Taiwan should declare independence, he would switch in an instant. He makes threats but accuses others of being warmongers for reacting to them.

The Taiwanese clearly do not WANT reunification. His intent is to ram it down their throats at bayonet point if necessary- -the same as was done to the the unwilling Hong Kongese. He says Taiwan is part of China. I asked what the name of the man appointed Governor of the Province of Taiwan was and how many divisions the PLA had stationed there. He never answered. He claims Taiwan is "lost province" of China. Saddam Hussein made exactly that claim about Kuwait when he invaded in '91. Should everyone have stood back and just watched when he invaded?

If there is to be war here, China will start it. I think the US and the UN should act appropriately- -"You can have Taiwan when you get through us."

My next door neighbor is Chinese. A well educated very hard working man with two beautiful daughters. The man across the street is a Chinese dermatologist. We get along well. The CEO of the startup I worked for (and I worked directly for him) was Taiwanese. I am a minority in the neighborhood I live in; the majority of the population is Asian. The Asians and Causcasians in the neighborhood get along fine with no friction. During my career I have many times with Chinese, Taiwanese, Vietnamese, and East Indians. I'm quite sure these people would be astounded to find out I was racist.
