True, and to compound that, I believe there are income limits on some aspects of the new bill. I forget the details. On SS, though, the wage limit ($87k, BTW) comes along with the benefit limit, which is fair unless you believe SS should be an income redistribution vehicle instead of a pension plan - i.e. limit benefits, but not contributions. That appears to be what dippy and duraynged want.

Socials Security Taxes are being used to fund Defense and other government programs. Without Social Security surplus, the deficit would be much larger.
