There definitely is not enough historical research data on the subject. Most women who somehow managed to achieve leadership roles suffered Joan of Arc's fate & so-called medieval witches--burned at the stake. Male egos were really a formidable force to deal with in the past. If that woman knows how to heal someone's disease(and I don't), she must be a witch. It was most likely a matter of job preservation for the male--burn competition at the stake.
