McCarthy would have been wiped out by Nixon. Humphrey made it very-very close. Gore is the ultimate unifier if there is a deadlock. Gore is also the sentimental favorite of all Dems sicne he got totally ripped off in Florida. Gore has no dirt, has made no gaffes, has been a good sport and was extremely successful in the 90's. He's also got a history of coming back from defeats to win. Gore is ten times as experienced as Dean and is from the south. This tme he might even win Tennessee. Dean might be a Gore running mate. That should silence unrealistic Deanies.

This is a great article on how General Clark is picking up speed and will eventually win the Democratic nomination.
