>>Sort of like France is a country for the French people<<

And England is a country for English people.

And Italy is a country for Italians.

And Russia for Russians.

And.....well you know...

But neither of these, nor any other that I am aware of, have an official doctrine of their namesake only living there, and countries like Canada and America have a huge mixture of most identities, along with vibrant Jewish and Arab communities.

Israel is indeed an entity onto itself if it chooses to ignore the existence of its minorities, and should expect more accusations of an Apartheid agenda if it follows this path.

As I and many others have stated before, the biggest threat to Israel is Israel itself under a policy of Apartheid.

To suggest the Jews are somehow in jeopardy of their very existence by not having a state of their very own is difficult position to defend today. They may loose it all through war by following an enterprise of exclusion.

Re: But the idea was that Israel should be a country for the Jewish people, where they would me a majority and control their own affairs instead of relying on the kindness of strangers.

LOL! Get serious.... The very lifeline of Israel "relies on the kindness of" her American sugar daddy and, incidentally, the U.S. tax payer.... There isn't, couldn't be such a thing as a "standalone Israel". Without access to the EU market, Israelis would be drenching in a marmalade of "Jaffa oranges" and flowers....
