<<I find this fixation with 9/11/2001 a bit hard to understand.>>

Then you and I are miles apart. 3,000+ Americans murdered, people leaping to their deaths. Something that hundreds built over many years turned to rubble. I watched the program on how it was built and the other program on how they came down. Heard the bodies of the people jumping to keep from burning to death hit the concrete, louder than anyone could imagine. Jumping to certain death to keep from being burned to death.

Yep, I have a fixation with 9/11. Runs real deep now and people like you make it run a lot deeper.

9/11/01 is not just about lost lives and destroyed buildings. Events of that day made clear to most Americans that the previous WTC bombing and all other attacks were part of a coordinated strategy against us. It made it clear - not unlike Pearl Harbor - that we are at war. We have been issued a challenge we cannot fail to accept.

People are obsessed with 9/11 because it forced most to recognize - whether rationally or intuitively - that their lives, as well as those of their children and grandchildren will not be the same.
