To: Berry Picker who wrote (35988 ) 12/8/2003 1:37:47 AM From: alan w Respond to of 39621 Hello Brian. It's late and I don't have much time to respond. I understand the basis of both your posts tonight. You have done a good job of explaining your position. I can not however agree that Christ's work is finished here. 1 John 3:8 says that Christ will annull the works of the adversary (CLNT). Rotherham's has "undo" the works of the adversary. That says to me the He will "undo" ALL of them. Not some. All. 2 Corinthians 4:3&4. Notice this "act" of the adversary Brian. (3)But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost. (4) In whom the god of this world (the adversary) hath blinded them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. Now what that tells me is that it is the adversary who is blinding the unbelievers so they won't believe. If he wasn't blinding them, they would believe. Christ came to undo this blinding being done by satan.!Christ did conquer the last enemy in 70 A.D. - that was death spiritual. Is sin an enemy? Is sin still present? I think the answer to both of those questions is a resounding yes!! Until you can prove to me that sin is ended. Hebrews 9:26 again, then you can't convince me that death is defeated. Sin, being an enemy, must be abolished(or in the words of Daniel, make an end to sin) before death. In a perfected universe, there will be no sin or death. Physical, spiritual or any death. Death is death. Where in scripture does it say that death means spiritual death? The wages of sin is physical death. If Adam had not sinned, he would still be walking around. God would see to it. Whether eating from the tree of life or having put on immortality, Adam would still be living if not for his sin. He is physically dead because he sinned. He was at enmity with God after the sin also, but he also began to die that day.People who are waiting for carnal men to stop dying will wait forever. You have scripture for this one? When He defeats death as a last enemy, He will defeat ALL death. Not just spiritual, physical, second, in short, all death will be eradicated from the universe. And every act of satan will be undone. All things came from God including death. When God finishes perfecting us, death, along with all other enemies will be discarded. Christ's work on the cross will right all wrongs. When the kingdom is perfect, even we will be able to see it. It's late. Catch you later Brian. alan
