Dollar remains at multiyear, record lows By Rachel Koning

CHICAGO (CBS.MW) -- The U.S. dollar remained near a record low against the euro, the seventh straight record low, in recent trading. The day's decline was sparked by a report from the Bank for International Settlements, which showed aggressive first-half 2003 repatriation of OPEC funds out of dollars. The report fueled existing concerns over financing the huge U.S. current account gap, which relies on foreign investing in U.S. assets. The euro traded to an all-time high $1.2239 earlier and was recently up 0.6 percent at $1.2232. The dollar fell 0.3 percent vs. the Japanese yen at 107.26 yen, a fresh three-year low. The dollar also fell to a five-year low vs. the British pound and a seven-year low vs. the Swiss franc earlier Monday.
