I believe that you might be engaged in a bit of hyperbole here. TTBOMK, the deficit spending of the WW II campaign and of the Civil War both exceeded the current profligacy on a percentage of GDP basis.

However, that being said, I am in complete agreement with you that the Bushies are the most grossly irresponsible group to have ever controlled the U.S. treasury.

The difference this time around is that the excesses are driven by fraud, not by national emergency.
