The only positive thing I can see for us out of Russia is that they now matter less and less in the whole "World Affairs" scheme of thing. Place is a real backwater. The problem is that "backwaters" can cause a great deal of damage in this world. Even desperate poor ones, e.g., Afghanistan. And especially those with nuclear know-how and weapons and missle technology. And scientists and a science infrastructure. And lots and lots of land to hide things in. And need/love of cash which can be used to buy these things.
