I've been right about a lot of things lately _ except the correction I've been expecting. I forsaw weak employment reports, a lower dollar and a correction/rotation to higher quality issues.
We're getting the move to quality, the lower dollar and weak employment numbers, but not the better buying opportunity I was looking for.
Kansas City appears to have _ finally _ absorbed the worst of the employment damage. KC Fed says 4,500 jobs were lost in the K.C. area in October, but the help-wanted ads in Sunday's paper looked more normal than they have in a long time.
With Sprint in shambles, a lot of high-paying jobs are gone for good, and people are either accepting lower-paying positions or, increasingly, starting their own companies. Small business starts are way up from 6 months ago.
Best-performing economy in the country right now is NW Arkansas. The City of Bentonville (population 12,000 and home of Wal-Mart) is adding 23 positions to the city staff in 2004. Totally unheard of anywhere else I look.
I highly recommend NW Arkansas for high-skilled workers who cannot find what they're looking for in Dallas or elsewhere.
One catch:
Salaries are lower there, but there a zillion job openings, which much more to come in 2004. Home and office construction is at all-time highs.

I suspect I may just get some of my favorites cheaper then expected...again, naz not down much, dow up a tad, but my stuff is down like another 10%...at this rate, when the naz gets hit really hard, I expect my stuff to tank like the titanic and again present far cheaper prices to add more.....

Wonder what the FCEL earnings will look like...she has gotten whacked hard lately...I wonder if the numbers have leaked and that is why she is in steady decline mode.....I will be adding more at $10...anybody else going to bite on some fcel at $10? What about askj. News has looked good, but wonder if it too is topped out as it has gotten whacked off it's high as well......I like askj for one reason, and that is I like the product/service they have....JCOM coming back into buy range as well.....
