Dean is hoping for the snowball effect. To out-spend and organize everyone else, win some fast primaries and then dare anyone to stop him. While many voters tend to go with the frontrunner, there will also be a lot of doubt about Dean's electability. Unless the other candidates drop out and concede early, they will amass twice as many delegates as Dean (together) and clearly would have the power to stop him. But then who becomes the compromise candidate? The only guy everyone would agree on would be Gore. Kerry's only chance now is to boomerang back in Iowa and NH and finish strongly. It's possible but I wouldn't bet on it.
