Now there's something Orwell really DID right about.

Read "Notes on Nationalism" if you get a chance. Obsession, instability and indifference to reality - the three key traits of what he termed generally as "nationalism." AS's instantaneous shift to Dean is a perfect example of the second. "What remains constant... is the state of mind: the object of his feelings is changeable, and may be imaginary."

I like the last part. ;-)

Also note the sections on "Pacifism" and "Anglophobia" - they describe various Bush-hating characters around here almost perfectly.

BTW, good chance Gore has the same strategy as some attribute to Hillary - make sure Bush wins reelection to avoid facing a Democratic incumbent in 2008. ;-)
