Summary of Conquests of Joshua and Moses:bibleexplained.com the history following Moses on the mountain is a bloody one all the way down to the time of the stories of Jesus we assign around the the time just before the destruction of the Temple. The history of the ME is an extremely complex one , and it has always involved war, fanatics and fundamentalist terrorists . And on a relative basis , Solomon was no more lenient or less taxing than Pontius Pilate. Might have just been easier, all things considered to have sacrifice a few bulls to Jove , as some were actually enjoying the Helenist good life , and live in peace .<g> This monotheism that is assigned as a great "value" ...i see differently , and wonder if it were such a value in the end. Sure has spawned enough blood spilling as far as I can see ...exclusivism, suspicion , persecution etc... and might be just as efficacious to worship many Gods and become a pantheist as much as worshipping just one... or just become a humanist , and worship reason ...and let intrinsic epiphanies be private , or manifest through science , philosphy and art in the public domain . Leave mysticism to the mystics. (The Bahai Temple in Israel is very beautiful , nice thing about Israel is it's openess to this freedom of religious expression ..but in the end we humans are all pantheists, imho ) ;-)
