Re PNAC IMO, if we had another 911 type attack within the following year or two, most people would have thrown up their hands and rolled over. As I understand it, the missile defense system has never worked during tests. It's too easy to use decoys to mess up our missiles. Apparently, the only 'hit' came when we put a homing beacon in the target. Yep, that's what our 'enemies' are likely to do with their missiles. We can't buy desert-appropriate $200 boots for our troops but we can waste billions on systems that do not work.
