US, China sign historic agreement -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tuesday, December 9, 2003 (Washington DC): The United States and China signed a far reaching, five-year bilateral agreement governing sea-going trade between the two countries on Monday. By signing the agreement, American shipping companies will now be able to compete with Chinese companies on a more level playing field. The agreement offers US companies similar privileges to those already enjoyed by the Chinese companies in the United States.
