Well, I still say that if you put up a map of states- toss the 2000 election map which is irrelevant now that Bush has redefined himself as a far right, warstarting, super spender... start with a new map and cross off the states that Bush has already lost just on sentiment alone, there are fewer swing states than some think.

Michigan and ohio those were supposed to be swing, I would say they are not now but you need polls to tell. Nevada another one, Nevada's number one concern is environmental regulation... another Bush "screw you" to the public on environmental issues, take a poll but it may well be Nevada is lost. The west coast of course is very anti-Bush and I believe the Northeast too.

My guess is, the real swing states are actually defined as being in the SOUTH. For example, North Carolina. Off the top of your head you'd say that was a pro-Bush state. But Raleigh technical park is very anti-Bush. Lots of internet press says Raleigh is suffering with job loss. Theres a guy on SI from Raleigh and he doesn't like Bush.

I guess what it all comes down too is that if you piss off too many different groups of voters, there isn't much left. Looking at Bush's record you have Labor, women, environmental, anti-war types including some moderates and even veterans, budget hawks, questionably maybe seniors as some groups who have been screwed by BushCo. On the pro Bush side you have a lot of large company CEOs.

Missouri is a must-win state for both parties. It is a microcosm of the US, actually, as well as being in the middle of the country. It is also a large source of campaign donations (St. Louis County, that is.) And August Busch, as well as Anheuser-Busch, contribute to both parties.
