Try this novel thought; when will the Russians be out of Afghanistan, when will the French be out of the Sudan, when will the French be out of Vietnam, when will the U.S. be out of Vietnam, when will the British be out of India, when will...you get the picture, or don't you? As far as the "meet me after school" tough talk, we both know it won't happen. Not that we might not enjoy it. As far as the "abuse of government" question, what is it you fail to see as a threat. Our founding fathers understood the lessons of history. Power is a corrupting influence. If you leave options that allow people to abuse their power they will do so at the expense of those with less power. Safeguards are essential. The only true safeguards are those that restrict the power of government. All this administration has done is to increase the powers and the potential for abuses of the most dangerous branch of government; the executive branch. If there have not been abuses, there will be and they will be "legal" under the rules of this administration. But we don't even have to go there do we? The "no attorney, no charges, no bail, no hearing and indefinite confinement under a newly created category of 'enemy combatant'" gives the executive all the power it needs to abuse it's power with impunity. What kind of American are you that you can't see that and feel outraged?
