I already postulated that the main goal of the polluter was to PROFIT from his actions...

In which case his main goal was not murder.

try sticking to the argument.

I most certainly did stick to the argument. I just gave you more information than apparently you can handle. Drop your little thoughts honestly into my post, and you will see they are already fully addressed.

So, murder isn't murder?

Clearly not. You are much more of a danger to me if you are in the hunt to murder all people whose full name contains the letters "J" and "P" than were you simply interested in creating goods for profit which require you to dump some chemicals that may or may not harm me. Your motive in the former case is not to profit whether or not such people are dead. You literally wish to murder all people whose full name contains the letters "J" and "P. Your motive is quite direct here. You wish to derive some sort of benefit from the direct murders themselves.

Contrariwise, as heinous as the following scenario is, were your motive to simply profit without regard for committing murder, the murders you commit in such a case would be incidental. Prying you from your heedless profit motive would take care of the threat you present to humanity, since, once again, you really do not wish to murder.

Both scenarios are murderous and deserving of punishment. But because of the radically different motives, the murders are themselves different.

[Murder] has to be your 'main goal'... not merely an ancillary consequence of your actions, that you accept (and a consequence you generally seek to HIDE from the public's attention.)

Not sure I understand this. Murder doesn't HAVE to be anyone's main goal. I am saying that motive matters when considering any infringement upon another's right - including murder. Not all murders are equal.
