Just close your eyes and visualize yourself stretched out on the bow of a boat in the sun.

The reason they asked you if you're claustrophobic is because (depending on what is getting MRI'd) they slide you into a chamber which is very dark, and then as the machine activates you begin to hear loud clicking noises. You stay in there for awhile (I don't remember exactly, but it seemed like 15-20 minutes when I did mine a few years ago). For people who don't like close in and dark places where they can't move around, combined with the clicking noises, it can be a little unsettling.

The good news is that it's completely painless. I thought it was kinda cool, actually. Just think of it as a movie where you are being transported into the future.

And remember, it sure beats the hell out of getting a colonoscopy.
