One wonders at what mental retardation or dementia contributes to this buddy mckee assertion.

"Except for the irony that if the 'conservative' standards for vote counting that Bush's forces argued for had been used --- Gore would have won... while if the 'liberal' standards that Gore's folks argued for had been used, Bush would have won." buddy mckee #reply-19577969

"if the 'conservative' standards for vote counting that Bush's forces argued for had been used --- Gore would have won... while if the 'liberal' standards that Gore's folks argued for had been used, Bush would have won"

My point was that the "standards" used should have been neither Gore's nor Bush's. They should have been the "standards" that were well accounted for in existing FL law. The precedent that algore set when trying to steal the election was a bad one. All of Bush's "standards" were in response to an all out attempt to TAKE the Presidintial election through the political and very liberal FL SC.

"Once you start to select which laws are to be enforced, and which not"

I agree. People should be outraged that algore attempted to do this. When Bush is brought in, it is a dishonest (or ilinformed) partisan attack on Bush. He won the election with the laws that were on the books at the time. That does not matter to dems, and that is why the precedent algore set is so dangerous. Our courts are now writing laws more aggressively than ever. A job they are not supposed to do under our constitutional system.
