Nadine,
I do agree with you that Arafat elected Sharon! The "duh" heard 'round the world. One of many blunders in the Arafat chess game (he really should take up something less complex--Checkers, or maybe "Go Fish", or maybe call in a game theorist).

But let's get back to your "crowd of imbeciles now strutting their stuff in Geneva"(TM). From the GA:
"Option iv [choice by refugees of Israel as a permanent place of residence] shall be at the sovereign discretion of Israel and will be in accordance with a number that Israel will submit to the International Commission. This number shall represent the total number of Palestinian refugees that Israel shall accept. As a basis, Israel will consider the average of the total numbers submitted by the different third countries to the International Commission."

According to the text as I read it, Israel wholly controls, as a matter of sovereign discretion, the number of returnees. Obviously, the intention (with which I agree wholeheartedly) is to avoid swamping the Jewish state with returnees and obliterating its nature. BIG "blink" for the Palestinian side, or am I missing something? Or do you still see "blinking" only on the Israeli side?

John
