I would have thought anyone who went long the market with the DOW at 7500 was stupid and insane

It is right that we have been making more money in our niche

but they have been doing well.

general equities market. It is an easy concept, difficult to discern within the market. Prices have been going up because, on balance, investors have been willing to take on risk. It is clear that there is not value (in the aggregate), but there is no sense in being bearish on equities when the general investing public is willing to take on risk. Do I know how to tell? No. But a number of independent professionals have a pretty good track record. A non-exclusive list that I follow includes James Stack (InvesTech Research), Ned Davis (Ned Davis Research), John Hussman (Hussman Econometrics), Dan Sullivan (The Chartist), Richard Russell and Lowry's Research. Lowry's just issued a "short term sell" signal but is intermediate term constructive on the markets. The others are positive.
Most are private subscription but Hussman's opinion is freely available on his website (with excellent economic analysis as well).
