Anon,
from the news stream it looks like LU will have a pretty decent current quarter, and the next one. One had to expect some profit taking this month, but I expect LU to firm in the 3.25-3.75 trading range next month.

jmho.

Smith Barney just put a sell rating on old LUCY. She's falling like a rock again. I have finally learned how to make a little money on this stock. As a retired Lucent employee, I have her in my 401K and can move in and out without having to deal with commissions. And I can do it on a daily basis if I choose to. The only problem I have is that I have to settle on the daily closing price when I make my move, and the move must be made before 4:00 PM so I never know exactly what might happen as the market nears the bell.

I made a rule for myself and have stuck with it for a few trades in the last year or so. My rule is to get out the day before earnings are announced and it has been paying off.

I moved 75% of my holdings to a Stable Value Fund on Tuesday, catching Lucent at the closing price of $4.75. I purchased that 75% on 7/18/03 @ $1.69 so I did very well this time around, thanks to the recent interest in telecom stocks and the deal that Nortel picked up a few weeks back.

I'm slowly nibbling away at the losses I have endured in staying with this stock as a loyal former employee. I can remember buying on several dips back when it was tanking in 2000 and then again in 2001. I still have a lot of ground to retake.

At the moment the ticker on CNBC is showing Lucent @ $4.12, having been below $4.00 a half hour or so ago. Good hunting everyone......Anon
