Srexely, you can't split a sentence in half, change it's meaning and then puff up with pride about rebutting the NEW arguments you've created out of thin air.

I said, "It must be comforting for them to realize that the hundreds of BILLIONS of dollars we are expending in Iraq are not available for the fight against terrorism."

You must have had a red face when you rebutted the (never made) assertion that it was a comfort to our enemies that we were spending hundreds of billions in Iraq AND then also rebutted the (never made) assertion that funds were not available to fight terrorism?

Do you often worm your way out of a losing debate by distorting what is said until you can rebut it, and then actually doing so. That's a novel approach; no, wait a minute, isn't that what Limbaugh does for a living? It's just as dishonest when you do it as it is when he does and it only persuades fools and true believers.

On another matter, you and others keep alleging that those of us who see a tortured path to a dead end in Iraq, are terrorist supporters. Is the world really that black and white for you? Are you totally incapable of realizing that it is those who have the courage to say that the "emperor has not clothes" who create progress, while those who lack the acumen or the courage to see impending failure create disaster?

Don't be such an empty headed cheerleader. In our democratic society we are the owners and coaches, not the ones paid to jump up and down on the sidelines with big smiles on our faces and pom poms in our hands. Our job is to assess the abilities of the other team as well as our own weaknesses and then to make changes so that we can WIN. It's not that complicated; what is our end goal, are we on the right path in terms of a workable policy and do we have the right team in place to achieve our ends? Those questions require a realistic assessment of not only our "team" but also of the other "team." When we talk about our weaknesses and the other team's strengths, that's not disloyal, that's smart. You can stay stupid and wave those pom poms if you want, but when the cost of losing is even one additional American youth and billions of dollars that could better be spent elsewhere, I'll continue to call it the way I see it and not the way I wished it was.
