China Imposes Surplus Duty on Hot Rolled Coils Imported from Taiwan

Chinese Customs Administration informed Ministry of Commerce that, imports of hot rolled coils from Taiwan into China exceeded the quota allocated to the country under the scope of second period of Chinese safeguard measures. In line with this information, Ministry of Commerce determined to impose 9.5% tariff for the imports. The new surplus tariff is imposed in addition to the existing tariff on the imports of subject merchandise from Taiwan. The duty is in effect as of December 6, 2003.
