Franklin Delano Roosevelt, imprisoned without trial or access to lawyers Japanese-American citizens...FDR was a Democrat.

From where I stand a shameful chapter in US history, regardless of party affiliation -- absolutely un American. Had I been alive then I would have been against it just as much I am now, in retrospect.

Abraham Lincoln suspended habeas corpus during the Civil War, which allowed him to do the same thing? So, really, the US became a dictatorship in 1861, right?

Technically speaking, yes, until habeas corpus was reinstated. I presume you understand the circumstances were not even close to what the situation is today -- civil war in the US is not even a possibility.

So what was your target again?

In the post to which you replied there was no "target."
