There's something refreshing about her reticence so far to jump into the fray, and her few statements about staying w. her medical practice and not saying much for now.

There's a bit of resonance in Dean's campaign to this other doc, 209.157.64.200 who finally quit the GOP in disgust and wrote a book, "Breach of Trust", where he scolds Repubs (as well as Dems), and says if people knew what went on, they'd throw everybody out. That same reform underlies Dean's disregard for the Dem machine, and his wife's simple comment that she's going to take care of her patients.

There's also a funny resonance to "West Wing" where Pres. Bartlett's wife is a doc.

"Mrs. Howard Dean"? Who's that? ;)

I think you miss my point, and it would be easy to miss since you've obviously not lived through Dean's 11 odd years of public service in Vermont. You make an amazing assumption that because she's a physician, that somehow she's a political animal like her husband. Well, LOL!

Judith Steinberg is smart, indeed, but she's one of the least articulate people I've listened to within politics. She doesn't discuss politics, even with Howie. In 11 years of holding office in Vermont, I don't recall ever hearing her say anything to the press, and only once can I recall seeing a photograph of her.

I did hear a 10 minute local public radio interview of her this fall, and it was extremely boring. She pretty much said that she's not likely to do much campaigning for Howie, and intends to keep on practicing medicine...from the White House, if he's elected. LOL!

Just found this which might better suggest what I'm thinking about the broader public's potential reaction to her once/if Howie's candidacy actually takes hold and he gets the nomination.

Don't get me wrong, I have the utmost respect for Dr. Steinberg and her approach to Howie's campaign. I just have my reservations about how that's going to go over with the public once someone sticks a microphone in her face and she has to talk. ;) This is an extremely private, yet unrealistic person behind the man you are seeing.
