Well, I always thought the "right to bear arms" was included to give us the ability to defend our selves and property AND overthrow a repugnant government by force of arms, if needed. In the days of the flintlock, this might have been possible. Limiting these arms to semi-auto pistols and rifles makes such anti-government action a pipe dream today. I myself own no guns, although I once was a champion target shooter as a youth.
