Spitzer blasts OCC proposal on banks By Greg Morcroft
NEW YORK CBS.MW) -- New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer, who has
spearheaded an nvestigation into the $7 trillion mutual fund industry, called on the
Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to withdraw proposed regulations that would
expand the OCC's powers and exempt national banks from nearly all consumer
protection laws. Spitzer, in a press conference Wednesday, said the OCC is trying to
preempt state and local laws. The New York AG pointed to an advisory letter issued by
the OCC telling banks to not respond to state inquiries. "For them to say state and
local laws cannot be enforced is simply wrong," Spitzer said.

Somalia was not a war for us it was a 4th world police action. Kosovo was sort of a war but we didn't lose one soldier. That's because it was handled so well. There will also be little break-outs but overall peace on earth.
Just as important, Clnton brought us unparalled prosperity which we could see again if we reverse Bush's trickle-down, pork and deficit-spending policies.
